ALL CHANGE!
Stand by for a radical new scoring system in 2009 after a dramatic overhaul of the league structure by the BSPA at their annual conference. Promoters have voted in a new format which is designed to reward teams which perform well away from home – for example, a side winning away by seven points or more will pick up four league points. Full AGM round-up in this week’s edition, including news of a revamped, and re-named third tier, amendments to the tactical ride rules, and the introduction of the new tactical gate regulation for KO Cup matches.
BANDITS IN THE CLEAR
Berwick have been saved – and Newport could be back. That was the good news emerging from the promoters’ conference as both clubs were given starting places in the 2009 Premier League. The Bandits have been sold to local business people John Anderson and Linda Waite (no relation to outgoing promoter Peter Waite), while former Newport sponsor Steve Mallett is the man behind the latest proposals to revive the sport in South Wales.
